Nicholas Gage born Niholas Gatzoyiannis in a remote Greek village in 1939, uses the dramatic events of his life in two cultures as the raw material for his books, from the exposes and novels that were based on his ecperiencres as an award-winning invetigative reporter to the memoirs about his family. His first book, Eleni, written in 1983 won prizes around the world, was translated into 16 languages and was made into a mothion picture. The book, Eleni, tells the story of how Gage's mother arranged for her children to escape from their village during the Greek Civil War, how she was tortured and executerd in retribution by the Communist rebels and how Gage hunted down her killers thirty years later. Other well known books by Mr. Gage include: A Place for Us, Greek Fire, Hellas and Greece and Land of Light.

Eleni Gage grew up in Athens, Greece, and Worcester, Massachusetts, and has always been fascinated by cultural rituals, traditions, and syncretisms. That interest led her to study Folklore and Mythology at Harvard University as an undergraduate, and, then went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Columbia University.  Eleni Gage is currently the Executive Editor of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine and a freelance writer whose travel articles have appeared on the covers of many travel magazines and publications. Eleni is the author of North of Ithaka, a travel memoir in which she details the year she spent in a remote Greek village overseeing the rebuilding of the home that was the birthplace of her paternal grandmother, the late Eleni Gatzoyiannis. Eleni has also written two novels; Other Waters, and her latest release, The Ladies of Managua.
